Astute Machinery Consultants
Astute Machinery Consultants needed a website that could do more than simply explain its services. Project 404 designed and developed a bespoke WordPress site incorporating a custom reporting system that links physical machinery to individual online safety reports. QR codes placed directly onto client machines can be scanned by an engineer using a phone or tablet, providing immediate access to the latest safety and compliance information for that specific machine. The system is now used across hundreds of machines.

The Project
Project 404 designed and developed a bespoke WordPress website for Astute Machinery Consultants, creating a professional and flexible platform to present the company’s specialist machinery safety, compliance, assessment and training services.
A key part of the project was the development of a custom digital reporting system designed around the way engineers work on site. Each machine can be assigned its own online safety and compliance report, linked to a unique QR code placed directly on the equipment. An engineer can simply scan the code with a phone or tablet to access the relevant report immediately, without needing to search through paperwork or central files.
The system is now used across hundreds of machines, giving clients a practical way to connect physical equipment with up-to-date digital safety information. It complements Astute’s wider work in machinery status evaluations, risk assessments, compliance inspections and safety improvement planning, where clear, accessible reporting is a central part of the service.
The website also brings together Astute’s consultancy services, industry expertise, UKCA and CE marking support, training and technical resources in a clear and accessible structure. The company’s training programmes have been delivered to major organisations in the UK, Europe and the US. This kind of bespoke functionality also features in projects such as Highland Club Scotland, where the website was built around complex property data, filtering and booking requirements.
We continue to support the site and reporting platform with ongoing development, maintenance and technical support, helping ensure the system remains reliable, secure and adaptable as the number of machines and client requirements continue to grow.
